What is this election all about?
I'm well aware that the media would like me to call out Richard Lee and all that I think he hasn't done and has done to the detriment of our county. But that is not what I'm about.
My candidacy is about a striking reclamation of integrity, honesty, intelligence and responsibility to the leadership of District 3, of openness, and of government for the people.
I believe that you, the citizens, are entitled to leaders who are dedicated to ensuring that the quality of life within our county is the best it can be and is charted by all of us in collaboration. I believe true leadership creates an environment of opportunity for all, brings power to the people, and builds new leadership throughout the county by providing everyone an opportunity to invest in the future. This requires thoughtful vision and a strong commitment to working for the greater good.
My vision and plans for the county build on the synergies between the County, our Cities, the Port, the College and our businesses. Our unique and diverse economic strengths, our cultural richness, and the natural beauty of our environment separately and together are magnets for growth. I'll provide the intelligence and responsibility to shape that growth, and will be commited to you and to the leadership of District 3 government by and for the people.
Vote for me and, as your Commissioner, I’ll hold regular public forums so that you help set priorities and so that the Commission has your best ideas about how our budget can match those priorities. I'll seek radio and television broadcast of all Commission meetings and work sessions, making our work open and accessible. I'll continue this blog so that we can interact in real time, both about issues of the day and about long-term plans.
The Board and the committees to which I am liaison will have my full and active attention, so that people and resources can be brought together when and where they're needed. I’ll be a strong and statewide voice for public safety, transportation, and the balance you, the voters, have insisted be maintained between the environmental and economic uses of our great natural resources. I'll work hard to ensure that our rich cultural life gets the private support it needs to remain strong and vibrant.
I have no businesses or land ownings within the county to protect or expand. I’ll ensure that zoning fits all of our needs, that permitting and inspection regulations apply to all citizens equally, and that the County has the resources for their enforcement.
Imagine what Clatsop County could be with a Commissioner who works thoughtfully, openly and actively with her colleagues and for her constituency.
I’m Cindy Price, and I ask for your vote.

Well, "Astoria Citizens Journal" certainly endorses your candidacy and talent that would certainly benefit, not only, your district's constituents but all of Clatsop County.
Thank you for having the courage to stand against and not settle for the "Status Quo".
It is indeed time for Clatsop County to move forward in the intertests of all its people and you are one of those that can do that, absolutely and there are more with your thinking on the way.
"I have no businesses or land ownings within the county to protect or expand."
Cynthia, this is worrisome for me and alot of other folks who do own property in Clatsop County. For me and alot of folks, this is a good reason TO vote for Richard Lee. He understands the difficulty of property development here and is an advocate for private property owners. You insinuate a veiled attempt to critisize Richard because he is a commissioner and owns property in Clatsop County. You try to make that out as being something bad.
Show me on paper where he has done something wrong!
Because all I see is a productive member of our community creating value on his own property. Creating more tax revenue for our county. Employing people. Economic development.
I've been watching the race between you two. I agree with Steve Forrester's endorsement of R Lee. Why? You have not given me a compelling reason to kick him out of office. You have not been able to tell your audience what you would do that he wouldn't.
I'll tell you now the "GOB" line works with about 100 people in this county. They're the folks that vote on Patrick's poll. Reality tells us differently.
If you want to win the election, compell us how you would do things differently or better.
The one thing that I highly commend you for is not making LNG an issue. Smart move.
All in all, I think you would do a great job as a commissioner Cynthia. You just haven't given enough of a reason to boot out Richard.
Glenn, if you think my approach and my vision is no different and offers no better alternative, then we not only speak different languages but we live in different worlds. Glad you're feeling well enough to read and write.
Of course that would be ARE no different and OFFER no better . . . .
I would have to agree, what difference does it make if Mr. Lee owns property in Clatsop County?
He has created jobs. Plain and Simple. If it is not broke why fix it?
You're a GOB Glenn, of course she will not compel you or your ilk to vote any differently and threaten "The Agenda".
Quite frankly she doesn't have to compel anybody to do anything except accept her thinking and vision for our future and yes, I say our future because her actions as it has been with Lee will impact all of us.
Kick Lee out of office?
Lee's doing a pretty good job of doing that himself.
You think many will forgive him and his buddy Bob Green for inferring candidate Price is merely a piece of Josh Marquis' chattel and has not enough intelligence to know when she should or should not act legally in her position in her service to the public?
Are these kind of people all we have to lead this community?
I just heard another ex-County Commissioner, Tim Gannaway, say the other day that it took him 3 1/2 years to get the hang of being a Commissioner so,that being the case, Richard Lee only technically has 6 months valid and useable "E-X-P-E-R-I-E-N-C-E"
Once again is this the caliber of leadership that we have for our County?
If it takes a Commissioner 3 1/2 years to hit the ground and start getting footing they best be getting into something else and quite frankly I would wager Price could stand toe to toe right now with the "Experienced, two-time Chairman and member of 18 or so other committees, Richard Lee and give him more than he could handle right now.
Quite frankly, for some of you in the "Public Service" when your seat comes available, I don't hink touting "Experience" will be a good "Campaign Motto" and trying to sweep the LNG issue under that soiled carpet of Clatsop County leadership will work either as much as you will pray that it will.
As a matter of fact most in Clatsop County can thank LNG for bringing these realities to light and likely, as well, be partly responsible for the change in vision, ethic and leadership in Clatsop County
Once again, congratulations on passing Design Review for "Your" Port Project.
I bet you were really nervous huh?
Sounds, though, like you met all the criteria with flying colors.
And you recused yourself as well.
How Honorable.
Patrick says:
"Threaten the agenda"
What agenda would that be?
I've heard you say this again and again.
You have yet to explain what it is you are talking about.
If the agenda is to promote development of clatsop county, I'm guilty.
If the agenda is to promote business in clatsop county, I'm guilty.
What's your agenda? So far as I can tell, it's to get anyone that is an incumbent voted out. Why?
Glenn Asks:
What's your agenda? So far as I can tell, it's to get anyone that is an incumbent voted out. Why?
My agenda is to get every citizen in Clatsop County involved in "Their " government and to understand, as evidenced, in recent history, by some glaring examples that to have effective government one cannot just mark a ballot and walk away till the next election and leave those that they elected, presumably to serve them in "The Public Trust", to their own devices.
That's only the beginning of their responsibility as a "Citizen/Constituent".
A second key element of "The Citizens" responsibility is to hold those they elect accountable to the constituency and the "Public Trust" it granted them.
"The perception of the GOB Agenda"?
In my view anybody with a little common sense and observation can figure that one out or, at least, develop a scenario that could be reasonably close.
Once again that "Nasty Old LNG" has come very close to betraying it if not actually being responsible for doing so.
Hey, wait a minute, many many voters were inferring (conflict of interest) Many feel it just wouldn't be the best for our County. I have read and listened to Price, she sounds very smart.
I would like to hear more, she is kinda stuck on a couple subjects(broadcasting the meetings) (Growth)(Lee's failure)
Whose conflict are we talking about?
Cindy Price has an official opinion from the State Ethics Commission that says she won't have a conflict.
Richard Lee has never answered, anywhere, about his many, many conflicts that he just keeps making money on...for himself!
So the official opinion SAYS she won't have a conflict. Does that mean she really won't?
You are talking apples & oranges.
"Richard Lee has never answered, anywhere, about his many, many conflicts that he just keeps making money on...for himself!"
Funny. More mudslinging with no evidence to back it up. Do you all go to school to learn this?
Just because Price has obtained an opinion, does not mean she won't side on the side of her Husband. I know many many independent women, they still side with their husband in the end.

Tell this part about "Independent Women" to my wife would you and the bulk of her friends.
Can't seem to get her to agree on that point.
Let me ask you this though: Cindy Price sits up their on that dais and blatantly and flagrantly votes on some issue that violates the Oregon Public Meetings Law in favor of an issue that will directly and personally benefit her husband, Clatsop County District Attorney, Josh Marquis, do you actually think this would intentionally not be called to the attention of all parties on this "Quasi-Judicial Panel, especially if she were so stupid and uniformed on process not to claim a conflict?
Well, I can tell you this much, this is not Cynthia Price and if she were to betray the confidence most in her district have in her over Richard Lee then I would hope that she would pay the serest of penalties.
I don't think that will happen.
How would you feel about manipulating codes, ordincances, personnel and regulations to personally suit your own agenda and project.
And if you are an elected official doing this, what would you call it?
I know what I would call it.
I'd really like to see Glenn's blog.
Maybe he could answer questions about HIS conflicts of interest.
Everyone in Astoria knows he goes around bad-mouthing Price.
Does anyone really beleive he's interested in doing anything but trying to sabotage the candidacy of the one candidate with the guts to put her views on display?
And Glenn, please tell us WHAT exactly Richard Lee has PERSONALLY done that benefits anyone but himself, and maybe you?
I don't think we're living in North Korea quite yet
John sez:
"I'd really like to see Glenn's blog."
Wish I had the time.
"Maybe he could answer questions about HIS conflicts of interest."
Fire away. I have the same firm (ethics commission) that wrote a similiar letter that Cyndi has. Again, what specific question(s) do you have?
"Everyone in Astoria knows he goes around bad-mouthing Price."
I don't bad mouth anyone. Not my character. People that know me know that much about me. I'm a perennial nice guy.
"Does anyone really beleive he's interested in doing anything but trying to sabotage the candidacy of the one candidate with the guts to put her views on display?"
So you think asking her questions about her positions on issues that affect our county is sabotage?
And Glenn, please tell us WHAT exactly Richard Lee has PERSONALLY done that benefits anyone but himself, and maybe you?
Richard Lee personally helped me on a land issue that made my property worth more. He helped me understand the process. Sage advice. Because property issues in our county are difficult to understand, it is good to have a property rights advocate like Richard to help us understand the process.
Just curious but what exactly do you have in mind when you say Richard Lee is benefiting himself? I've heard a few people say this but offer no supporting evidence? More mudslinging?
You don't have time? If you spent half the time putting together a blog - its pretty simple - than you do constantly attacking Price we might know how it was that your building got built outside the rules.
So Richard Lee has helped you with your business? Thats your definition of helping the county?
Property issues are too complicated for all us little people to understand?
Kind of like the county budget is too complicated for ll us little people to understand?
If we ever needed a reason why we need Price and people like her on the Commission rather than pals of Lee and Glenn, just read Glenn's many many posts
"Constantly attacking Price"
I haven't attacked her at all.
What "attack" are you referring to?
"So Richard Lee has helped you with your business? Thats your definition of helping the county?"
I live in the county. He helped me.
I know of others he has helped so to answer your question, yes.
I'm still curious how I built my building outside the rules. Do tell.
